Solar Advantage Scheme - For Investors

Description:The investment offered is in one or more Solar Panels, which will be sourced by the Solar Panel Agent. The Solar Panel Agent will also arrange for the installation of the Solar Panel and for Investors to have the benefit of a 25 year lease secured on the property. The Solar Panel Agent envisages that Investors may wish to invest most conveniently by way of Partnerships. The Solar Panel Agent understands that significant income tax relief should be available from enhanced first year capital allowances. The cost of the investment will be £10,000 (spread between Investors in the case of a Partnership) with a minimum investment per Investor of £1,000. There will be an initial maximum of 4 Investors in each Partnership. The £10,000 will cover the cost of supplying and installing a Solar Panel, 3 years’ administration and legal costs, and the costs of subscription (including all commissions).

• 25 year inflation protection for revenue via the Feed in Tariff (FiT) linked to RPI.

• The Solar Panel Agent has already identified some 600 suitable properties.

• The Solar Panel Agent will procure that the rights to keepthe Solar Panels are registered with HM Land Registry to enhance security and selling procedures.

• Expected 47% income tax relief for a 50% tax payer.

• Target IRRs of circa 17%, 14% and 11% over 2, 3 and 5 year exits respectively.

• Target 7% post tax annual yield after capital allowances.

• Income is paid by utility companies, reducing credit risk.

Investment per Panel: £10,000

Minimum Subscription: £1,000 per Investor in a Partnership; £10,000 for a Sole Proprietor

Maximum initial number of partners in a Partnership: 4

Maximum investment per Investor in Solar Panels: £25,000

Focus: Investment in qualifying FiT solar projects with enhanced capital allowances

Total fees: £350 solicitors’ fee (including VAT) for 3 years’ administration

Intermediary Commission: 5% (paid by the Solar Panel Agent)

MAIN RISK FACTORS

• The Government may abandon Feed in Tariffs or try and change the terms retrospectively.

• The tax treatment of the Partnerships may be challenged by HM Revenue and Customs and investors may incur costs dealing with any such challenge.

• Investors should not consider investing if they might require access to their funds. Investments in solar panels will be illiquid and not readily realisable.
